Objective

Transform and scale up the identification, programming and services for high-ability and gifted learners who have been overlooked, unrecognized and underserved and infuse into gifted programs students with disabilities from marginalized low-income and English Learner populations.

Project GLIMPSE is a Jacob K. Javits USDOE collaborative grant between UCF and Osceola County Public Schools. The grant was approved for 5 years (2022-2027).

THE POWER OF PROJECT GLIMPSE

Our mission at Project G.L.I.M.P.S.E. is to empower the underserved gifted populations in our local school district. Through the power of simulations, we are able to create a personalized learning experience centered around five simulated students that represent a broad range of gifted abilities.

GRANT-FUNDED AND SUPPORTED

As a grant-funded university project, we are able to provide our services at no cost to the school district or families. We are also supported by a team of dedicated professionals who share our vision and values.

OUR PERSONALIZED APPROACH

At Project G.L.I.M.P.S.E., we understand that every child is unique. That's why we take a personalized approach to learning, tailoring our simulations to meet the specific needs of each student. We believe that this individualized attention is key to unlocking their full potential.

Project GLIMPSE is more than just identifying gifted learners. Our goal is to use transformational techniques to fully equip and support gifted students in having vision to "glimpse" a promising future which they look forward to with anticipation.

Supporting Students

We provide personalized mentoring and guidance to teachers who will in turn help students explore their interests and passions. Teachers will learn the necessary expertise to work closely with students to identify their strengths and goals, and assist them in making informed decisions about their academic and career paths. We believe that every student has unique potential, and we are committed to helping them unlock it.

Professional Development

Through Project GLIMPSE, we are able to offer a wide range of workshops and trainings to enhance teachers' skills and knowledge in the area of gifted education. Our trainings feature the latest gifted strategies and methodologies shared by renown experts in the field. We strive to equip teachers with practical tools that they can immediately implement in their classrooms. Thanks to the Javits funding, a groups of teachers from Osceola County are pursuing gifted certifications and/or masters degrees at UCF.

Conferences

We understand the importance of networking, building connections, and staying up to date on the latest trends in the field. That's why we attend global and national gifted conferences so we can interact with and learn from professionals from around the world. These opportunities allow our team to gain valuable insights and expand our professional network. We believe that exposure to real-world experiences is crucial for our project's success.

About Project ELEVATE

(English Language Excellence eVolving through Advanced Teacher Education)

Taking place between 2015-2021, Project ELEVATE was an initiative by the University of Central Florida in conjunction with Seminole County School District that sought to provide professional development and training to teachers in order to increase the gifted student population and implement the Schoolwide Enrichment Model (SEM) in treatment schools. Through simulated classrooms using TeachLivE software, teachers interacted with 5 students representing the broad range of giftedness. Teachers learned how to identify gifted students from marginalized populations, and received instruction in creating an advanced, compacted, and accelerated curriculum for gifted students.
